California Roof Pros

Roofing Contractor in the North Bay

In the North Bay, the roof conversation is the fire conversation, and the fire conversation is the insurance conversation. No region of California has had that lesson written more clearly, from the 2017 firestorms through the underwriting retreat that followed, and no region rewards a correctly built, correctly documented roof more. California Roof Pros serves Marin, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano counties with that reality at the center of the work.

The region’s roofing splits three ways. Sonoma and Napa carry both the post-2017 rebuild stock, thousands of homes built under modern wildland standards whose roofs are now approaching their first decade, and the far larger pre-fire stock aging on the ordinary schedule while its owners navigate the hardest insurance market in the state. Marin is canopy and hillside country, Mill Valley’s redwood shade, Tiburon’s exposed ridges, the San Rafael and Ross Valley towns, where fog-fed moss, steep wooded lots, and wildland-edge fire mapping meet some of the priciest housing stock in the country. And across all of it, a documented Class A assembly with ember-resistant venting is the through-line: it is what the mapped parcels require, what California’s Safer from Wildfires framework pays premium credits for, and what FAIR Plan households most often need on the path back to the voluntary market. Documented is the operative word, and we photograph and certify every assembly we install.

North Bay Cities We Serve

Sonoma County

The largest rebuild and roof-hardening market in California, and the county where insurance drives the most jobs.

Southern Marin

Steep, wooded, wet and expensive. Access is as much of a constraint as the roof itself.

Central & North Marin

Mixed valley floor and hillside. The fire line runs right through several of these towns.

Napa Valley

Estate properties, agricultural structures and rebuild work, nearly all of it inside a mapped hazard area.

Solano County

The inland edge of the North Bay. Hot, dry, and closer to Central Valley conditions than coastal ones.

Roofing Services Across the North Bay

Class A re-roofs with full insurer documentation. Ember-resistant vent retrofits during re-roofing. WUI-compliant replacement on mapped parcels. Rebuild-era service on post-2017 homes. Composition, tile, and standing seam metal replacement. Moss remediation and canopy-condition repair in Marin. Free inspections with fire designation verified by address and an insurance-ready condition report.

North Bay Roofing Questions

Will a new roof actually help with my insurance?

In the North Bay, more than anywhere. California's Safer from Wildfires framework requires carriers to offer premium credits for verified hardening, anchored by a Class A fire-rated roof, and for FAIR Plan households a documented Class A roof is frequently part of returning to the voluntary market. The documentation is the point: an undocumented Class A roof earns nothing, so we photograph and certify every assembly.

Does my home have to meet wildland (Chapter 7A) standards?

It depends on whether your parcel sits in a mapped fire hazard area, and the 2017 fires proved the map and the risk are not identical: neighborhoods outside the mapped zones burned too. We verify your parcel's status by address, and where the standards do not legally apply, we will still price the Class A, ember-resistant version, because it is usually what your insurer wants regardless.

Why does my Marin roof grow moss every winter?

Fog, shade, and redwood canopy: ideal moss habitat. Moss lifts shingle edges and holds moisture against the roof, and it should be treated and removed gently, never pressure washed. Zinc or copper ridge strips slow its return, and keeping canopy debris out of valleys is half the leak prevention in Marin.
